Hermès to Increase Leather Goods Production With New Site in Auvergne, France

Hermès International S.A., or simply Hermès, is a French high fashion luxury goods manufacturer established in 1837. It specializes in leather, lifestyle accessories, home furnishings, perfumery, jewellery, watches and ready-to-wear. It’s founder is Thierry Hermès now owned by the Hermès family with its headquarters at France and Paris.

The company generated half of its annual sales from the leather goods and saddlery division which is equivalent to 3.41 billion euros.

Due to high demand, the company has been adding one product site every year over the past decade, creating job opportunity of about 2,500. It now counts 3,800 leather goods workers.

In order to increase the rate of handbag production, the luxury firm has revealed its plans to add a new leather goods workshop in Auvergne, France in 2025, creating 250 jobs.

The company, working with the employment agency of France will recruit future artisans for the aite and begin training them for the production by November 2020. The new workshop will be located in a territory called Riom Limagne et Volcans, in central France.
