The National Design Awards was launched in 2000 as an official project of the White House Millennium Council, the Awards are bestowed in recognition of innovation and impact and seek to increase national awareness of the impact of design through education initiatives.
African fashion brands, Studio 189 and Telfar Clemens have won the 2020 National Design Awards in different categories. Studio 189 won the Emerging Designer award while Telfar Clemens won the Fashion Design award.
